Melissa Fischer

I was raised in Irving, TX and moved to Austin in 2010 to complete my undergraduate degree at the University of Texas. There I received my bachelor’s degree in social work with experience in medical social work. Upon graduation, I worked as a vision therapist, where I created and implemented therapy programs for adults and children with strabismus and visual deficits after a stroke. After a year of working as a vision therapist, I was accepted to a physical therapy program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2017. I have been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since October of 2015. My desire to become a physical therapist stemmed from my passion for working with people. I love what I do and could not imagine a different line of work.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my significant other and family. I spend a lot of my time doing outdoor activities, including hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, obstacle course races, bouldering, and other recreational sports.
